Technical review and appraisal of planning applications for agricultural building and new access at Harepath Hill, Seaton. Writing report, providing support and building the capacity of local residents to have their voice heard in the planning process.
Key issues included landscape and visual impact, character of the local landscape and proximity to the AONB, design, impact on residential amenity, impact on biodiversity, vehicular access and agricultural business justification.
Outcome: as a result of strong local objections supported by the technical appraisal reports, the first (2018) application was withdrawn, and the subsequent (2019) application was refused on grounds of inadequate information, failure to demonstrate genuine agricultural need, environmental impact and unsatisfactory access arrangements.
